Argentinian Study
☺ Member-Search Option identifies contact information and specific late blight interests of researchers in 65 countries and six continents. This is in addition to the existing directories of late blight researchers by regions, and of members interested in Integrated Pest Management, Breeding and Resistance Evaluation and Molecular Studies of the Pathogen. This option is found under About GILB/Member Search
☺ Late blight country reports describe the pathogen population and the importance and distribution of the disease, as well as control measures that have been successful and some that have not. If you are willing to prepare a report for your country or have comments, please contact us at GILB(at)cgiar.org.
☺ Catalog of Late Blight Resistant Varieties lists potato cultivars presently grown in 39 countries, how to obtain them and if they are protected or not, along with general resistance information and the contributor. Users can search for all resistant varieties grown in a particular country, while a search by variety lists the countries where a variety is grown. GILB members are urged to check the varieties listed for their respective countries and comment. Breeders would appreciate information on varieties that have “lost” resistance to Phytophthora infestans to add to this database.
☺ Regional Groups of Africa, Central America, including Mexico), East and Southeast Asia and Australia, Europe and East Europe, South and West Asia, South America, and North America (Canada and USA) have webpages where their activities since 1999 are described, and abstracts and papers from regional meetings are found.
☺ List of Resources offered by GILB members that includes: breeding lines, resistant materials, plant differentials, molecular markers, Phytophthora infestans isolate collections and elicitors. Relevant techniques are described or links are provided.
☺ All GILB Newsletters, Annual Reports and Global Conference Proceedings since 1996 are online, including GILB'02).
